floral fashions (literally)

it's been a few months since i went to a comm meet! for various weather and safety reasons, most of the meets i was going to attend ended up cancelled, so i was very very excited to join this one. not only because it's been a while, but because the event was very cool and like nothing i've really seen before!

fleurs de villes, a flower art show of sorts, came to our state for just a few days to display a number of literal floral fashion arrangements. emphasis on the literal - everything was made out of real, living flowers and other plants!

coord rundown

jsk - angelic pretty
sweater - vintage
hat - offbrand
socks - baby, the stars shine bright
shoes - LIEF
accessories - chocomint, dolly house

lol everybody loved taking photos copying the mannequin poses

i'm in a very "how many outfits can i coordinate with black" time of my life right now lol. i have multiple pairs of light-colored shoes that i've pre-ordered and commissioned, but they have not arrived yet! the black shoes are the only ones i have at the moment oooops.

i don't really have any cute spring-y florals in my wardrobe, but i still wanted to have a cute, pastel color scheme (despite the shoes situation) and so i went with this one! i was inspired by all the cute coordinates i've seen pairing magical etoile with black. i was pretty happy with how it came out, even though i probably could have been wiser about the temperature. it's been freezing cold all week, but just today, it decided to be hot and muggy, just on a dime,,, rude

this one was a big hit with the group!

the event itself was a lot of fun! the displays were amazingly impressive, the photos here aren't even half of the actual gallery. everything was so beautifully made, and out of living flowers too - crazy stuff. some of the artists who made the displays were there to talk about their process and inspiration, which was very neat stuff! while everything was amazing, my favorite was this:

the hat?? the bell bottoms??? the apple bag????? she is the moment and she would do numbers on pinterest if she were a human being. i sort of regret not taking a photo with this one, but in my defense i was way too absorbed in just taking in the details on it.

while the event was very lovely, we did run into some trouble with the heat and the crowds. tons of people came to see the sights and it made the venue a bit stuffy. there were also many many many people interesed in our clothes and what we were doing -- which is totally natural to be fair! it's not every day you see a gaggle of friends all dressed in the same pseudo-rococo style, so it's okay to be curious and ask questions but also sometimes i just wanna take photos without getting crowded by a bunch of people i dont know mannn

but i think all of our troubles melted away when we had an afterparty at the local cafe. the desserts were soooo beautiful and even more delicious than they looked. i got this little cake that the staff told me was made of an almond sponge, dark chocolate mousse(?) and a creamy pistachio filling, with white chocolate and a macaron shell on top. i had decided on what i wanted when i saw these absolutely enormous macarons,, literally the biggest id ever seen in my life wtf. so even though it was maybe a little indulgent, i got one of them as well.

the cake was SO good. it was decadently sweet but not sickeningly so, and it was just the right amount to satiate my ravenous sweet tooth. it was nice and cold and it was honestly super super refreshing after such a warm day. the macaron was also super delicious! i didn't know what to expect, it was just listed as "macaron of the day." it tasted very much like a toasted marshmallow to me, though it was apparently a tiramisu flavor. the cocoa on top probably should have signalled that to me LOL but maybe im just bad at guessing. it was great tho

after the meet, while i was waiting for my ride, i also had a really nice conversation with a sweet lady who sort of recognized the fashion from her daughters who also enjoyed it. wanted to mention it because she and her husband were both very very lovely to talk to!!

it was so nice to hang out with my comm! i'm still very new (joined only late last year) and getting to know everyone, but we had a good time chatting at the cafe. i feel like i got to know everyone a little bit better and have a lot of fun with them. theyre all very sweet, unique, and interesting people, and i hope i can continue to make good memories with everyone as time goes on. i'm very much looking forward to our next meets, both the big ones and smaller ones!

i'm also looking forward to some of my own plans coming up this week for my birthday hehehaha
