summer ILD 2026

the 6th was summer international lolita day, and our comm's wonderful organizers put together a tea party to celebrate! the party was fairy themed, and the organizers and attendees absolutely turned it out. i looked forward to it for weeks, and it did not disappoint. the admins and mods went the extra mile to make this happen and make it amazing, so i'm really grateful to them for all the hard work.

i was hoping to get this written up the same day i went, but i've spent the past twenty-four hours or so recovering from the big day. that being said, i'd do a big tea party like this again in a heartbeat, chronic illness be damned. coord below and more details under the break, as always.

this picture was taken by the amazing @ruffleroad on instagram. ^_^
coord rundown
skirt - clockwork tea party, baby, the stars shine bright
cutsew - sleepyland
headbow - baby, the stars shine bright
socks - angelic pretty
shoes - antaina
accessories - chocomint, dolly house
bag - baby, the stars shine bright
i'm well aware that i've been alternating between my two skirts and nothing else -- but it's summer!! there's no way i'm wearing a jumperskirt to anything that requires more than five seconds outdoors LOL

the tea party was actually held at the same hotel i visited for my birthday earlier this year, though because of our enormous group, we were placed in a private room rather than a shared dining hall. it was a super gorgeous place, helped by the decorations put up by the organizers. it felt really magical to be in there as a comm, just sitting and enjoying the tea fare and chatting. it was well worth the travel!

the tea menu was the same as the last time i attended, which was great for me because i'd been missing their DELICIOUS scones. i absolutely demolished mine, my table manners were probably extremely poor in that instance..... i was just too lost in the sauce okayyyy. i got home and my partner mentioned being jealous of the tea party for no reason other than the fact that we got to have the scones hahaha poor thang. i'll have to take them on our own solo scone-munching excursion someday.

the tea party itself was a lot of fun! everyone was great to talk to, as the lolitas in this comm always are. i'm very shy and bad at making conversation, but i feel like those things melt away when i'm with the comm. i guess thats a benefit of having a social club where everyone is united by one extremely specific niche interest (shrug) but it's still awesome and i always treasure the time i spend with people here. i caught up with people i'm already acquainted with, and got to meet some friendly new faces as well.

AND THE COORDINATES!!! like i said earlier, the event was themed around fairies, and the dress code asked that we reflect that in our coords, however we chose to interpret it. it was a lot of fun to see all the many ways people did 'fairy' coordinates. there were many gorgeous princessy coordinates with shimmery fairy wings on the back, but there were also more subtly themed floral and butterfly ones as well. many of us leaned into cutesy seelie fairy theming, where others leaned into dark and brooding unseelie court elegance. some went with a traditional interpretation of a fairy, where others went more abstract or leaned more into specific folklores. every single person had their own version of a fairy, and every single person absolutely turned it out.

because of the beautiful coordinates and beautiful decoration, nice photos were a pretty big focus and highlight of the event, so everyone got some individual coord photos and group photos taken. there was also this gorgeous ornate mirror next to an old grandfather clock that pretty much everyone took some selfies in. self included, of course, who do you think i am??

a rare instance of a photograph where my face looks really good. face sticker it anyways tho

after the tea party ended, we split up into small groups to go poke around in the surrounding shops. the people around us definitely found the large packs of ruffly roamers highly entertaining hahaha, such is the case most of the time. i didn't really take photos of that but #trustmebro we definitely went inside 'buildings' and we looked at 'wares' 'together.' it was a really great time! i headed home a little bit early after the heat started getting to me x_x but nevertheless, i had a really wonderful time and i'm glad i was able to stick around a bit longer!

i'm a simple individual - i see someone taking a shoe circle photo, i join in with no hesitation.
in conclusion - fairy tea party ruled really hard. every time i attend a comm meet, i always leave thinking "wow, that was great, these people rock, i can't wait to see them again." as of may, i think i've been a member of the comm for six months, (maybe seven now?) and it's already brought me so many wonderful times, so many cool experiences, and most importantly, it's introduced me to so many wonderful people.
