5 things angelic pretty is definitely re-releasing this year (real) (not clickbait)

stellar news: 5 epic things angelic pretty is re-releasing this year guaranteed REAL and not FAKE. incredible LEAKS from trustworthy source!!!

so, my source is that i made it up. but i can dream, right? maybe if i put it out into the world the stars will align and it'll actually happen. (it won't. but it would be cool!)

the actual title of this post is top 5 things i think AP should re-release.

or, maybe, top 5 things i'd re-release if it were up to me.

5 - nakayoshi bunny

nakayoshi bunny, originally released in 2008, has already been re-released twice - once in 2021, and once in 2023. in my honest opinion, though, the re-releases really do a disservice to the design because of their choice in material.

this is maybe one of only two dresses (we'll get to the second) where i think cotton wasn't the best choice. these dresses aren't bad, they're plenty cute, but when you put them side-by-side with the original release's pretty velveteen, the difference is like night and day. while i'm sure there's benefits to cotton (it's easier to care for, for one) as opposed to velveteen, it just feels plain without that beautiful sheen. i would love to see this dress re-released with its original material. i'd also really like to see its one piece version re-released, since that hasn't actually happened at all yet.

4 - melty chocolate

i'm trying to avoid listing dresses for the sole reason of "it's hard to find and i want it to be easier" but this dress is hard to find and i want it to be easier. it's also incredibly iconic, though, and maybe that is enough of a justification for this list lol. it's the first of many chocolate dresses angelic pretty would release in their prime, and i think that makes it pretty special. i'd love to see them re release this with extended sizing, or maybe even another cut that's a bit more friendly to bigger busts or plus size lolitas. i'd also kill to see them re-release some of the other items from this series.

(hey, while i'm on the subject of unrealistic expectations, i'd love if they started using a more durable material for their shoes and bags)

3 - jewelry jelly

jewelry jelly is an amazingly beautiful dress that i simultaneously adore and REFUSE to own because i know its famous fading issues would make me so sad. 16 years after its original debut, i think jewelry jelly absolutely deserves to see a re-release, but not a one-to-one rerelease. this is perhaps the only time i'll ever say this, but i think a good-quality polyester would be perfect for this dress. it would prevent the print from fading the way it did in its original release.

there are many additional things from the series i'd love to see come back, but none moreso than this adorable cutsew.

2 - melody doll

i love melody doll. this beautiful dress is almost as old as i am, and at least thrice as iconic. there have been some similar dresses made over the years, like fancy melody, recital, and classic melody, i feel like none of them quite capture that special something melody doll has. it's a near perfect dress to me, but my one problem is that neither the JSK (why is it called that) nor the OP have any shirring. there's not even a little crumb of partial shirring... it's a problem that could be easily solved with a re-release, though. i'd love to see these cuts re-released, but i'd also love to see an entirely new cut -- something like a JSK (an actual one!) with back shirring.

i'm sure by now you've noticed this pattern, but an ideal re-release would absolutely include these, especially that parasol. it's got a printed handle!! it makes me crazy!!!

honorable mentions

i couldn't choose only five dresses i wanted to see re-released, but i also couldn't come up with good justifications or ideas for every single one. before i reveal my top pick (which you've maybe already figured out) here are some others i'd love to see re-released:

cherry berry bunny

 it's cute, well-liked, and i think long overdue for a re-release.

sugary carnival

it's already been done in the form of the 2021 MTO, but what i would really like to see is a re-release of the special set cut, which has full back shirring instead of partial shirring - maybe with the normal colorways as well.

holy lantern

because i just think it would be funny if they did it again

my most coveted re-release

1 - milky-chan the fawn

this probably isn't a surprise to anyone. there's a fifty-fifty shot that this is ALSO the most coveted re-release of the girl reading this......

i'd really love if they did an MTO for this specifically. anything else would sell out in seconds and break the website. i wouldn't want them to change a thing about the dresses aside from maybe some extended sizing - keep the same cuts, keep the same colorways, keep the same materials. there are many, many reasons why i think this would be cool. one, it's been almost twenty years since this dress came out, and it's getting more difficult to find in good condition. two, it's an absolutely legendary dress that tons of people (me included) would like to have - there's probably more people who want milky chan than there is milky chans. three, fawns are trendy again, so if there was ever a time to release a fawn dress...

but more importantly, angelic pretty has the once in a lifetime opportunity to do something really funny

can you IMAGINE the mayhem that would ensue if an MTO included such treasures as the bag, the muffler, and the coat? the catastrophe that would ensue on the milky-chan secondhand market would be really really funny. no more thousand dollar purses. milky chan bag gets re-released for 50 dollars and absolutely tanks milky stocks. i am imagining such a beautiful future right now

i have my doubts that any of these will happen, (except holy lantern) but AP has surprised me before, so who knows? stepping back into reality, i would admittedly be concerned about the quality of any potential re-releases. if these were to happen, we'd probably have to accept missing built-in-petticoats or lower quality fabric, as has been the case in the past. still, though, i'd love to see any of these re-releases -- perhaps something like that could be a return to form for the brand? one can certainly dream!
